Background of the project
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is often associated with tech giants, programming, and complex algorithms. But what happens when AI becomes accessible to everyone, including those running small businesses, working as teachers, or simply wanting to understand how digital tools can make everyday life easier? That’s where EmpowerAI comes in.
EmpowerAI is a collaboration project funded by Erasmus+ KA220 VET that aims to equip women in female-dominated professions, particularly entrepreneurs and vocational teachers, with the knowledge and tools to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a support in their daily professional lives. Through an Online Training Course (OTC) and an AI Compendium open for all, participants can explore AI on their own terms. The two chapters of the OTC provide a simple yet powerful introduction to what AI is, how it works, and how it can serve as a practical support in professional life. The aim is to, through education, inspiration, and practical examples, encourage participants to view AI as a digital assistant rather than a technical challenge.
A short introduction to the OTC
Chapter 1: Ready, Set, Grow – Your AI journey starts here
The first chapter acts as a gateway to the world of AI. Participants gain an overview of what AI really is, not as a technical mystery, but as a tool that already influences our daily lives.
Using examples from various industries, the course illustrates how AI is used to automate tasks, analyse data, create content, and support decision-making.
For female entrepreneurs, this means seeing AI as a resource rather than a threat. Imagine being able to create marketing materials in minutes, get assistance with customer communication, or analyse sales data, all without hiring an expert. AI can become a digital colleague that saves time and provides new perspectives.
For teachers, this chapter invites reflection on how AI can be used in education, both as a pedagogical tool and as a topic for classroom discussion. How does AI affect society? What ethical issues does it raise? How can we prepare the next generation for a digital future?
The course is designed with reflective questions, discussion points, and practical examples. It builds on participants’ own experiences and encourages creative, collaborative thinking.
Chapter 2: I Am an AI Model – But What Does That Really Mean?
The second chapter goes one step deeper, explaining how AI actually works, in a clear and relevant way for non-technical users. What is an AI model? How does it learn? What does it mean that an AI is “generative”?
Participants gain an understanding of how AI is trained using large datasets and how it can be used to create text, images, ideas, and solutions. It’s not about understanding code, it’s about understanding possibilities.
For entrepreneurs, AI can become a creative partner. Need to write a newsletter, create a product description, or brainstorm new business ideas? AI can help you get started, offer suggestions, and save valuable time.
For teachers, AI becomes a tool to create varied teaching materials, plan lessons, or engage students in discussions about technology’s role in society. It’s about using AI as support, not as a replacement.
The chapter also offers insights into responsible AI use. What should we consider when using AI in our work? How can we ensure that technology is used ethically and transparently?
EmpowerAI – A project that gives you knowledge, confidence, and tools
In summary, EmpowerAI is more than just a project, it’s an initiative to democratize AI and make technology accessible to everyone. It is specifically designed for women who are often excluded from the tech sphere but have much to gain from understanding and applying AI in their professions.
You don’t need to be tech-savvy to start using AI. You just need to be curious!
